South Texas Blood & Tissue Center to Honor
East Central ISD for Grief Education Initiative

(San Antonio; April 13, 2010) The South Texas Blood & Tissue Center presented East Central Independent School District with its first Pacesetter Award, recognizing the district’s efforts in providing teachers and faculty with guidance and education on responding to grief due to the loss of a loved one. ECISD has for several years now participated in educational programs as part of the Bereavement Education Support Taskforce (BEST), a program of the Tissue department at STBTC.

STBTC acknowledges the commitment ECISD has made to helping teachers, counselors, and faculty on gaining a better understanding of grief and the services provided in the community for parents, students and families. A celebration was held to honor the district for its foresight and ongoing commitment to helping the children and families of the region handle life-changing situations.

The ceremony took place on Tuesday, April 13 at 10 a.m. at Oak Crest Intermediate School Campus, 7806 New Sulpher Springs Road.
