SAN ANTONIO – The South Texas Blood & Tissue Center (STBTC) is proud to announce Barbara Brinkmann is the lucky donor to drive away in a brand new 2012 Toyota Tundra. Barbara was one of the 147,000 plus donors STBTC saw throughout 2011. Each time someone rolled up their sleeve to give blood, he or she was automatically entered to win the huge incentive; increasing his/her chances to win with each donation.
“I’ve been donating since I was 16 years old. It is my way to give back to the community. I knew I was entered to win the truck, but that was not my only motivation. I like knowing my donations can help cancer patients and people in the community” said Brinkmann.
The Tundra is the biggest donor incentive in STBTC’s 35-year history. “It’s because of donors like Barbara Brinkmann that we are able to meet the needs of patients all across South Texas said STBTC President and COO, Mary Beth Fisk. “We are grateful for the hundreds of thousands of generous people that come through our doors or visit one of our mobile drives to give the gift of life and we are proud to offer our donors something back as well.”
The winter holidays usually come with a dip in donations for the center. STBTC is asking all eligible donors to make an appointment to donate by calling 210.731.5590 or visiting southtexasblood.org. All presenting donors through January 8, 2011 will be automatically entered to win SPURS tickets.
Anyone 16 years old weighing 120 pounds (with a parental consent form), or at least 17 years old weighing 110 pounds, and in good general health can donate blood.
