Donate blood, save a life, and earn a gift card in November
Throughout November, blood donors in San Antonio area will receive a gift card from one from the following sponsors Topgolf or Rudy’s Bar-B-Q as a thank you from The South Texas Blood & Tissue Center (STBTC), a subsidiary of nonprofit BioBridge Global, for helping the community. The Center is preparing for the upcoming holidays when the need for blood donations is great, but blood and platelet donations when frequent donors go on vacation.
In appreciation of those who donate in November, STBTC will be giving away coupons:
- Donors who give at a San Antonio mobile unit will receive a Topgolf gift card. (while supplies last)
- Those who give platelets or dual reds at a San Antonio or New Braunfels donor room will receive a coupon for a free meal to Rudy’s Bar-B-Q. (while supplies last)
- Those who give whole blood at a San Antonio or New Braunfels donor room will receive a Topgolf gift card. (while supplies last)
“When you donate blood or platelets, you save a life,” said Dr. Samantha Gomez Ngamsuntikul, STBTC associate medical director. “Your donation can help patients affected in emergencies, cancer patients who rely on regular transfusions or trauma victims. We want to show appreciation to all of our donors who support our communities by donating blood.”
While all blood types are needed, donors with type O-negative and O-positive blood are especially encouraged to donate.
To best accommodate donors, STBTC operates seven donor rooms in San Antonio, New Braunfels, and Victoria, and holds thousands of mobile drives each year. For more information and to schedule a donation, visit SouthTexasBlood.org or call 210-731-5590.
Anyone wishing to donate blood must present identification. Donors under the age of 16 must have a signed parental consent form and weigh at least 120 pounds. Anyone over the age of 17 may donate and must be in general good health and weigh at least 110 pounds. All donors are encouraged to eat well and adequately hydrate before and after donation. Refreshments and snacks are provided to donors. In addition, all donor receive a wellness check. Learn more about blood donation at SouthTexasBlood.org.
