South Texas Blood & Tissue Center (STBTC), a subsidiary of nonprofit BioBridge Global, has teamed up with Whataburger to thank donors for the second year in a row.

Starting Sunday and through the remainder of June and July, Whataburger is thanking blood donors for their lifesaving donation with a coupon for a free Whataburger with the purchase of a medium fry and medium drink. As an added thank-you for helping patients in need, blood donors will be entered to win one of four grand prizes of Whataburger for a Year.

Donations decline over the summer because our regular donors are on vacation, and there are no drives scheduled at area high schools, which typically provide about 30 percent of the blood supply. The need for blood, however, doesn’t take a summer vacation. Cancer patients, moms and newborns, accident victims and many other patients still rely on lifesaving blood transfusions.”

In the summer of July 2017, as blood centers across the nation reported dramatic drops in collections, Whataburger teamed up with STBTC to fight blood shortages in South, Texas.
